Overview

The purpose of the Quicksilver Foundation Delegation Program (FDP) is to promote the decentralization of the chain and to support validators in covering the costs of validating the chain.

FDP Committee

This round we have engaged a team of members from within the Quicksilver Community to run the program. We hope that this demonstrates absolute fairness and transparency in the process to award delegations to validators.

The Quicksilver Foundation extends its gratitude to the committee members for their efforts to date.

Process

The Foundation Delegation review will take place every 3 months and involves the allocation of 56M $QCK.

In the interests of decentralization, the top 10% of validators by delegated voting power (excluding existing Foundation Delegations, measured as of the application open date) will be excluded from the Foundation Delegation program for this cycle.

Validators are assessed on the following criteria over the last 3 months (from date of application closing) on their performance in validating Quicksilver (or since joining the active set), with equal weighting attributed to each:

Metric: Uptime in the last 3 months

Three points: 98–100% uptime

Two points: 95–98% uptime

One point: 92–95% uptime

Metric: Participation in voting in the last 3 months

Three points: 100%

Two points: > 75%

One point: > 50%

Metric: Instances of jailing in the last 6 months

Three points: 0

Two points: 1

One points: 2

Metric: Hosting and Decentralization

Three points: Self hosted

Two points: AWS, Google, Other Cloud, Other Datacentres

One point: Hetzner / OVH

Metric: Contributions to Quicksilver

Judged on a case-by-case basis, between 0 and 3 points.

Additional eligibility criteria

In addition to the above categories, the following are pre-requisites for obtaining a delegation under the FDP.

  • No double sign slashing in last 6 months
  • <= 20% commission
  • Not associated with an exchange or custodian

Allocations

The delegations will be allocated based upon the awarded points summed across categories, as follows:

Top 21 candidates: 1.15M QCK

Next 20: 850K QCK

Last 20: 730K QCK

All applications will be judged against the listed criteria by the Quicksilver FDP Committee and recommendations will be made to the Quicksilver Foundation.

Additionally, Foundation Delegations may be revoked at any point in time if the following occur:

  • Slashing or tombstoning
  • Failure to upgrade node within 48 hours of an upgrade
  • If determined to be necessary by the Quicksilver Foundation

The Quicksilver Foundation reserves the right to allocate tokens towards contributors to Quicksilver outside of the Foundation Delegation Program.

Key Dates

Applications will open from 16th January 2025, with applications closing at 00:00 UTC on 1st February 2025. Applications received after this date will not be considered with no exception.

Following the closing date, all applications will be considered and the allocations under the FDP will be calculated.

The successful applicants will be contacted ahead of the Foundation Delegations taking place, which are targeted for Q1 2025.
